When your windshield is replaced and it has a Lane Departure Warning Camera on your windshield, all vehicle manufactures require a recalibration of this important safety system.

This camera on some vehicles, also affects how your automatic emergency braking system will perform in a braking emergency.
 

Unfortunately several Missoula area companies are violating Nationally recognized auto glass safety standards when it comes to calibrations.   If you wish more information on why calibrations are very important keep reading below.  If you already have an appointment with us you can be sure your vehicle will be properly calibrated to your manufactures specifications.  Your safety is very important to use.

If you are being told your camera does not have to be recalibrated by a local Missoula area shop, they are not qualified to replace your windshield.  They are violating Nationally recognized Auto Glass Safety Replacement Standards relating to the requirement for a recalibration after a windshield is replaced.   Any Shop or Auto Glass Technician telling you a calibration is not necessary is not a certified, qualified Auto Glass Technician.  You can be sure their insurance company does not know they are violating Nationally recognized auto glass safety standards.  If you end up with an insurance claim against one of these local companies will their insurance company pay the claim?
 

If you have a local company tell you a recalibration is only required if there are vehicle diagnostic error codes or a message showing on your dash board display, they are violating Nationally recognized safety standards and should not touch your vehicle.  This confirms this company does not know what they are doing.    See the link below for more details.

If you're using insurance for your windshield replacement, your insurance provider will require your vehicle's safety systems be recalibrated. Otherwise, they might not cover the windshield replacement cost.  The Rock Chip Squad is approved by all insurance companies to do safety system calibrations.

Also note if you are getting a windshield quote from Safelite.com they will NOT include the price of the calibration in your initial quote.  They will tell you later the additional cost for calibration is $495 on top of your initial quote.   Safelite.com also charges you $39.99 to dispose of your windshield.

If you call other shops ask them about their calibration policy by asking these simple questions.

1. Are they following Nationally recognized auto glass safety standards relating to calibrations from the Auto Glass Safety Council.   (ASGC.ORG)
 

2. If they are not following these national standards, is there insurance company aware they are not following these standards, and they will pay a claim against their company if there is an issue caused by your vehicle not being properly calibrated?
 

3.  Can you please provide me with a website link from my vehicle manufacturer that explicitly indicates a recalibration is not required after my windshield has been replaced.     (Please note you will never get this because every manufacturer requires a recalibration after a windshield is replaced.)
